When Americans think of a weapon, most might think of a firearm or a knife of some sort, but most don’t think of one of the most powerful weapons of them all, voting. If there is one way to put your voice out there, it’s voting. Voting in America is as about as important as getting a flu shot. When people don’t vote, they choose to remain silent and go with whatever happens. And while it’s encouraged that people go vote, the voter turnout has been decreasing year after year and most don’t seem to know the reasons why. The reasons for low voter turnout break down to, the citizens’ political attitudes, citizens who are not registered to vote or don’t know how to register, and some feel as if voting is a waste of time because they think that their vote means nothing because of the electoral system.
