What I learned from the Industrial Revolution it started in England because of the textile industry. Wool had been used for years, but cotton in the 1700’s was becoming more in demand. The problem with cotton was that their was no easy way to make it, but the people wanted it because it was more comfortable and good for the winter. The cotton machines kept improving over the years which made it easier to make, but it was still difficult to get out the seeds until Eli Whitney’s invention of the cotton gin. The video did give me the big picture of the Industrial Revolution and a better understanding of that time period. During this period in time the main focus was ways to improve the making of cotton, because cotton was in such high demand to be used as undergarments underneath their coarse clothing. With the inventions for spinning cotton it rapidly increased the amount of cloth that can be made and sold. Yes, I do find this a transformative time in history. Some major historical figures from this period are a scottish engineer named, James Watt he designs an engine that could pump water faster than Thomas Newcomen’s and Thomas Savery’s engine. The engine was used to spin and weave cotton.
