ABSTRACT

“REMAR Ghana”, Christian Rehabilitation Centre, located at Busia a suburb community in Accra. The sole mandate and purpose of REMAR Ghana is to give a helping hand to the destitute and brilliant students aspiring to progress in their academic goal but by lack of financial support their insolvent to do so their school dropouts.

REMAR Ghana is increasing, enlarging its tent and extending it to accommodate more people communities which are in need by establishing branches to other communities in order to gain their purpose and mandate for its establishment but require a hook to each branch established so each branch activities can be monitored and administrated thoroughly.

Owing to this aspiration and keenness of assisting the community, I propose to network each branch of “REMAR Ghana” in every community be networked by computers with a server base to host their documents and records of individual for whom they are providing help and provide access to it when needed by the remote branch network communities.

“REMAR Ghana”, have four essential departments, and they are the accounts Department, Administrative Department, Fund Disbursement Department and Human resources Department whose activities really need to be interconnected to one another to share their contents for the progress of the team and the work objectives. So is possible that each department in the branch will obtain computers for networking.

This network will often demands around-the-clock employee services. This means that the networks will be available nearly 90 percent of the time and be smart enough to automatically protect against unexpected security incidents. The networks must also be able to adjust to changing traffic loads to maintain consistent application response time.

Today, the internet is of widespread and everyone is using the internet in one-way or the other. And since the objectives and expectation of ‘REMAR’ Ghana is on people accessing REMAR Ghana for help, using the internet as the medium for communication would be preferred because many are connected to the internet, than any other medium for connectivity and communication to give access to the needy or under-privileged

Connecting REMAR Christian Rehabilitation Center Busia to Internet would be critical to the success of REMAR’s objectives and aim for both large and small communities: connecting people with supportive applications, services tools and provides access to the resources that keep the organization running and meet the daily requirement of every employee and bring to the employee job satisfaction and security and not forgetting to promote the employees personal objectives as well.

The network is both wired and wireless network. It has the wired base for each computer to computer connectivity whiles the wireless-based for the router-to-branch router connectivity. For each of the four departments, trunk cabling installation would be used each department may have a minimum of (2) two computers and a maximum of (12) twelve computers.

Each of the computers is expected to obtained on-board network adaptor else would be provided external network adaptor. The cables for the connectivity’s would be made in a class “A” Cat 5e, Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cable in a trunk on the surfaces of the walls (Surface cable). For easy change and move in the case of cable failure. All the cables would be to a single access point called the control or switch room.

The network would be a server-based so will run the connectivity of the installation from the server. The DHCP Will be install on the servers or the routers to automate the connectivity of newly booted servers or routers which has DHCP on them. For an automatically re-configured at start-up.
The DNS will also issue an automatic IPs to the connected computers from the network operating system installed. Tables and chairs are all indicated in a form of symbols and briefly explain.

The wireless made of WIFI switch and a wireless router.
The WIFI would be provided by a service provider ( such as Voda Fone, Tigo, Glo etc) would be made to support internal connectivity for dissemination of files and records or even still sharing messages that would demand the contribution of all or many staff members. It may be also use as the official communication medium for all staff members who may wish to request for teams or work from assistance someone but would not want to physically be there. The WIFI can also be used to send/receive message over the internet but may have a strong signal capacity to support that.
The router would connected another router using wireless

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The main objective of this project work is to enhance the activities of REMAR Ghana Rehabilitation Center in a more productive and technological way for the comfort of the individuals aspiring help and the work or team mate.
This project is technologically bias and is demanded to operate on the internet. For individuals and personnel’s who want their attention to be observed and heard and yet limited by distance to the Christian Rehabilitation Centre of REMAR Ghana can still do so via the internet.
The method used to achieve the objective of the project that will accomplish the expected perfect result. In order to implement and evaluate this project, the methodology is based on System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), generally three major step, which is planning, implementing and analysis.
Every project will have different methodology that is been used to make the project successful and working well. Generally, I divided the methodology into three parts: planning, implementing and analysis. In the planning phase, I read from various sources like text book or lecturer notes, journals, Internet and more to get the requirements about the software and hardware used for the project.
Next step was implementing the project where I did the appointment with the third party in executing the project. The process of checking and testing also followed.
Finally, in the analysis phase the project come out with the demands of checking the functionality and operations of the network-very important. With the appropriate steps and methodology, and process of completing the project was managed wisely and made a good result.

PROJECT INTRODUCTION
REMAR Ghana is a charitable Christian Centre that works benevolently for the amelioration and harmonization for the wellbeing of the society. In effect, REMAR Association was created by ex-marginalized persons in Ghana in 2010 through the ingenuity of Thomas Koffi, himself an ex-gambler and now, PASTOR and PRESIDENT of REMAR Ghana.
It is noteworthy that REMAR through hard work and dedication is now present in almost all regions of Ghana. This expansionist idea` gives hope to souls dying, in distress and in difficulty, has even touched the neighboring countries Burkina, Ivory Coast and Togo. All Southern part of Togo benefits totally in the socio humanitarian actions directed by REMAR (a NON GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION).Abandoned girls in Togo by their families in response to their refusal to accept Female Genital Mutilation or FGM, also are never ignored in this process of social assistance of REMAR.
Thus, REMAR implantations in Ghana and beyond. It is important to recall the work accomplished since 2010 until now, to sustain benevolently and without the socio, political, cultural partnership of governments in all instances in all the regions, in order to minimize all the social faults which implicitly hinder national development. In sum, REMAR Ghana as a NON GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATION is implanted nationwide, and supported in the same manner through substantial aid assistance to the most neglected and dejected groups of society.
The headquarters of REMAR Christian Rehabilitation Center GHANA is situated in Accra, precisely Dansoman, down Mr. Biggs is Restaurant, near Akwadaa Nyame Hotel. Still in Accra, they have two houses at Weija for girls and women and an office in Adabraka. They have professional training centers at Dansoman and Adabraka for shoe making, carpentry, tailoring, computer literacy program, and a music recording studio. The REMAR Ghana targets street children, the needy, ex-prisoners and delinquents, so as to give them a handy vocation.
In Togo, the organization has house for adults and adolescents (male and female) with about 20 persons. In Burkina Faso, REMAR homes for about 30 children of school going age who are all enrolled in school. In Ivory Coast they run humanitarian services for about 300 vulnerable- war affected school children, single men and women.
REMAR is a non-profit, non-government organization (N.G.O), with a group of volunteers dedicated entirely to the work of human aid: the majority of who previously were victim of poverty and helped by the same organization
to come out of desperate situations and have taken the decision to give assistance to others who are in desperate situations.
REMAR runs meals centers in the most depressed areas in Ghana, Togo and Ivory Coast to which hundreds of children and mothers come to eat daily. REMAR also provides food for the prisoners in some prison centers, where many prisoners would otherwise have died from malnutrition. At least 500 prisoners are fed in the above mentioned countries twice weekly.
REMAR has hundreds of community homes where it cares for orphans, street children, single mothers, drugs addicts and alcoholics victims. It is this feature of offering that makes REMAR services free of charge and unconditionally, that distinguishes the Association from every other organization. REMAR has its own first aid clinics in Accra and dispensaries where the health needs of especially rural dwellers are met.
REMAR also has workshops and vocational training centers where the inmates are trained to acquire useful skills in carpentry, shoe-making, tailoring, masonry, auto mechanics and spraying, computer training, and etc. Most importantly, as a Christian organization, Remar is very much concerned with the spiritual nourishment of the inmates. As such REMAR have the Body of Christ Church in all their centers where the Word of God is shared daily to enhance the spiritual growth of the inmates and the neighboring communities.
In each country where we have REMAR, the majority of the workers are volunteers who have left the comforts of the first world in solidarity with those less fortunate or poorer people. They share with them their time, their knowledge, their affection, their material possessions, and all the support that they can give and also help train them. They live alongside the very needy, help them change their lives for the better, not only as far as food and clothing are concerned, but also in their family, professional and educational restoration. REMAR Ghana was officially constituted in 2010, to offer moral, cultural, material and spiritual help to socially rejected people and drug addicts. REMAR began to work primarily in the rehabilitation of drug addicts and alcoholics; but soon they saw the need to widen the scope of their services to other areas such as, education, the provision of food to those who cannot afford, preventive health care, and help for women suffering abuse, etc.
A newly established branch of ”REMAR Ghana”, Christian Rehabilitation Centre, located at Busia a suburb community in Accra. Share the same sole mandate and purpose of REMAR Ghana is to give a helping hand to destitute and brilliant students aspiring to continue their education but by destitution their insolvent to do so their school dropouts.

REMAR Ghana is increasing, enlarging its tent and extending to more communities by establishing branches to other communities in order to gain their purpose and mandate for its establishment but require a hook to each branch established so each branch activities can be monitored and administrated thoroughly.

Owing to this aspiration and keenness of assisting the community, I propose to network the new branch of REMAR Ghana located at Busia. This branch of “REMAR Ghana” be networked by computers with a server base to host their documents and records of individual for whom they are providing help and provide access to it when needed by the remote branch network communities.
“REMAR Ghana Busia”, have four essential departments, and they are the accounts Department, Administrative Department, Fund Disbursement Department and Human resources Department whose activities really need to be interconnected to one another to share their contents for the progress of the team and the work objectives.

1. Modem
Modem connects telephone line using RJ-11 connectors. Use two wires and are identical to telephone connectors. All modems have at least one RJ-11 ports-one for the modem and the other for the telephone, so you can use the telephone line for voice when the modem is not in use.

11.1 Inbuilt Modem or Internal Modem

In-built modem which is also called Also called a data link device which is used to link the communication computers to the communication links such as twisted-pair cable, coaxial cable, fibre optics wireless media etc. It is mounted inside a systems unit or a laptop computer for communication over a network with other network devices. Modem is used to connect a Telephone wire for communications to distant locations. The communication with modem is analogue. Modem short for modulation and demodulation, means converting from digital from the communication devices to analogue unto the telephone wire for transmission.

External Modem: It is a dial-up modem. Rated as 56 KBS and used when there are no available internal slots or if the modem needs to be shared with different computers that are not networked. An external modem connected to a desktop can easily be connected or disconnected and move to another devices.

COMMUNICATION LINKS

Despite advances in wireless technology, some compute in this 21th century are still rely on cable for communication.
Some types of cables are:

a. Fiber optics cable—Fiber optics network cable works using strand of glass pulse of light. It is an attractive way of transmit network packet. First because it uses light instead of electricity, this makes it immune to electrical interference.

b. Twisted pair cable or category 5 cable, commonly refer to cat 5e cable is a twisted pair cable for computer network. It provides performance up to 100 Mbps and is suitable for most variety of Ethernet over twisted pair.

C. Coaxial Cable is a typical electrical cable that has an inner conducted surrounded by tubular insulating layer and a tubular shield. Many of these also have an insulating outer layer or jacket.

Switch
5.
Switch is a computer network device that connects devices and capable of network address translation. Switches work at the network layer or layer 2 of the network layer of the OSI. This is easy to install and use more cares but easier to diagnose for faulty and broken cable. For switches, the major disadvantage is when the back-bone or the central-connection-point fails the entire becomes catastrophic.

Hubs

The hub holds the actual bus and allows access to the bus through the ports. To add a device to the network, simple plug another cable into the hub. The maximum distance from the hub to another distance is 100 meters. For a hub unlike switches, a hub is a devices which is a dedicated point-to-point link only to the central controller which create no direct traffic between the devices. It works with a MAC address for controller the flow of messages running from one to another. It is usually suitable in operating in star topology.
Figure 8.4

A communication network switch used for interconnecting computer networking device or segments for communications. It is regarded as the most intelligent switch simply because it can observe the traffics statistics of a communication media.

It also works as a central connecting point for LANs to MANs and further it more to WANs. Router have the ability of creating a picture of the entire networks, links, nodes and protocols and uses to observe the network conditions.
Router

Router: In a network, router is a hardware device that sends message between or among computers. It routes, manages and forwards data packets from one network to another, uses the address of the destination network in the incoming packets.

Figure 8.5
Servers: A server is the same as ordinary computer. Server stores the resources of the network such as program and application. It is simple a computer designed to process requests and delivers data to another computer over the LAN (Local Area Network), WAN (Wide Area Network) or the Internet.
