Introduction Chapter 1
1.1 Introduction
A blood pressure is also known as meter, blood pressure monitor, or blood pressure gauge, is used to measure a blood pressure. Para or mechanical metric for a bowl. It is always used with a compelling method that the pressure of the pressure of the pressure is just the beginning, and what is the pressure on it? Manual sphygmomanometers is with a stiatos. 1
An inflatable cuff consists of a inflatable cuff, a measuring unit (parallel parameters or aneroboise), and a mechanism for infrastructure that can run a manually running bulb and valve or a pump. 1.
1.2 What is Blood Pressure?
When your heart beats, it pumps blood round your body to give it the energy and oxygen it needs. As the blood moves, it pushes against the sides of the blood vessels. The strength of this pushing is your blood pressure. If your blood pressure is too high, it puts extra strain on your arteries (and your heart) and this may lead to heart attacks and strokes.
1.3 Normal blood pressure
Follow a healthy lifestyle to keep it at this level. More than 120 over 80 and less than 140 over 90 (120/80-140/90): You have a normal blood pressure reading but it is a little higher than it should be, and you should try to lower it.
How you tell high BP
Having high blood pressure (hypertension) is not numbers. For example, if your reading is 120/80mmHg, your blood pressure is ‘120 over 80’.usually something that you feel or notice. It does not tend to produce obvious signs or symptoms. The only way to know what your blood pressure is, is to have it measured.
Blood pressure is measured in ‘millimetres of mercury’ (mmHg) and is written as two

Table 1.1 Blood Pressure Measurement
What does number mean?
Every blood pressure reading consists of two numbers or levels. They are shown as one number on top of the other.
The first (or top) number is your systolic blood pressure. It is the highest level your blood pressure reaches when your heart beats.
The second (or bottom) number is your diastolic blood pressure. It is the lowest level your blood pressure reaches as your heart relaxes between beats.
Keep Low BP
Even if you do not have high blood pressure at the moment, it is important to keep your blood pressure as low as you can. The higher your blood pressure, the higher your risk of health problems.
For example, a blood pressure of 135 over 85 may be “normal” but someone with this reading is twice as likely to have a heart attack or stroke as someone with a reading of 115 over 75.

1.4 Background
Hypertension has proven to be a strong liability with 13.5% of all mortality worldwide being attributed to elevated blood pressures in 2001. An accurate blood pressure measurement lies at the crux of an appropriate diagnosis. Despite the mercury sphygmomanometer being the gold standard, the ongoing deliberation as to whether mercury sphygmomanometers should be replaced with the automated oscillometric devices stems from the risk mercury poses to the environment.
Blood pressure (BP) self-screening, whereby members of the public have access to BP monitoring equipment outside of healthcare consultations, may increase the detection and treatment of hypertension. Currently in the UK such opportunities are largely confined to GP waiting rooms.
1.5 Types
Manual
A stethoscope is normally required for auscultation (see below). manual meters are utilized by skilled practitioners, and, at the same time as it’s far viable to get a fundamental analyzing thru palpation by myself, it handiest produces the systolic pressure.
Mercury sphygmomanometers are considered the gold wellknown. They display blood stress through the height of a column of mercury, which does no longer require recalibration. due to their accuracy, they are often utilized in clinical trials of medication and in medical evaluations of high-chance patients, which includes pregnant ladies. A wall installed mercury sphygmomanometer is also known as a Bauman meter.
Aneroid sphygmomanometers (mechanical kinds with a dial) are in common use; they’ll require calibration assessments, unlike mercury manometers. Aneroid sphygmomanometers are taken into consideration more secure than mercury sphygmomanometers, even though cheaper ones are much less correct. a primary purpose of departure from calibration is mechanical jarring. Aneroid installed on walls or stands not to be susceptible to this specific hassle.
Digital
digital meters hire sphygmomanometer measurements and digital calculations in place of auscultation. they will use manual or automated inflation, however both kinds are digital, smooth to perform without education, and may be utilized in noisy environments. They measure systolic and diastolic pressures by using sphygmomanometer detection, using either deformable membranes which might be measured by means of the usage of differential capacitance, or differential piezoresistance, and they consist of a microprocessor. They measure appropriately measure blood pressure and pulse charge, even as systolic and diastolic pressures are less accurately compared with manual meters, and calibration is also a concern. digital sphygmomanometer video display units won’t be beneficial for some patients, consisting of those suffering from arteriosclerosis, arrhythmia, preeclampsia, pulses alternant, and pulses, as their calculations won’t be suitable for those situations, citation needed and in these instances, an analog sphygmomanometer is superior whilst utilized by a skilled individual. virtual devices may be used in a cuff, in order of accuracy and inverse order of portability and comfort, around the higher arm, the wrist, or a finger. The sphygmomanometer approach of detection is used by the blood pressure readings that differ from those determined with the aid of auscultation, and vary consistent with many elements, such as pulse stress, heart fee and arterial stiffness 2, even though a few units also are claimed to arterial stiffness, and some can hit upon unregular heartbeats.
1.6 Objective
in this project our objective is to measure blood pressure on android using Bluetooth technology. All the reading of measurement of BP is measured on android app. And after measuring the reading it also shows the graph of reading. And in android app it also contains the record of previous reading. The user can check the previous reading and compare it to the present reading . user can use it at anywhere and any place to check the BP. BP machine is connected to android app using the Bluetooth technology. The android app contain the different feature ,like save previous record ,manual option share function etc. using android app user can share it to the doctor or anywhere through internet ,email ,what’s apps etc.
1.7 Motivation
The previous BP measuring machine are not digital, the previous machine are work manually. Here we use the digital machine to measure BP. Today We measure bp using android app .we use in this project android as compared to pump. In past people measure bp using clock rate which are difficult. In modern days bp are measured using android easily. We just need a bp device and android app . in android app we use the Bluetooth technology to measure it. People use it easily by simply installing the android app and connect the device and android app using Bluetooth. If we compare the device to the previous device is costly and everybody cannot buy the deice.
Scope
In today this project is very widely used. People use this project for daily life to check the bp for good health. If any patients are checked by doctor he first off all check the bp. People buy this machine for home. Because they check the BP on time to time.

Component Chapter 2
2.1 Bluetooth
In the world of wireless networking, Bluetooth is one of the technologies that you are likely to come across. Bluetooth technology involves short waive radio transmissions and it aims to eliminate the need for cables and wires. It can be used with computers, mobile phones and other electronic devices in the office.
Bluetooth is a technology that is used to send signals between electronic devices. The ultimate purpose of this technology is to get rid of cables and make your office and your life easier to work with. Instead of relying on cables, one device can send a wireless signal to another and be interpreted instantaneously. This gives you acceptable functionality without having to worry about plugging in your devices or tripping over wires all the time. a wireless signal to another and be interpreted instantaneously. This gives you acceptable functionality without having to worry about plugging in your devices or tripping over wires all the time.
2.2 Bluetooth HC05
The HC-05 is a very cool module which can add two-way (full-duplex) wireless functionality to your projects. You can use this module to communicate between two microcontrollers like Arduino or communicate with any device with Bluetooth functionality like a Phone or Laptop. There are many android applications that are already available which makes this process a lot easier. The module communicates with the help of USART at 9600 baud rate hence it is easy to interface with any microcontroller that supports USART. We can also configure the default values of the module by using the command mode. So if you looking for a Wireless module that could transfer data from your computer or mobile phone to microcontroller or vice versa then this module might be the right choice for you. However do not expect this module to transfer multimedia like photos or songs; you might have to look into the CSR8645 module for that 3.
