Mesoporous silica nanospheres

Mesoporous silica nanospheres (MSNs) are synthesized to utilized in forms of a catalyst support, adsorbent and a closet for gain and release of biomolecules14. The synthesis of mesoporous silica was developed in an emulsion system of tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS), ethyl ether, acetone, and F-108 copolymer. A solution of 0.5 g of the F-108copolymer (99.9 wt%) was prepared in 70g of water and agitated for 30 min, 40 g of acetone and 20 g diethyl ether was added to the mixture. After forceful stirring for 30 min, 5.0 g of TEOS was added and stirred for extra 30 min, 5.28 g NH3•H2O (25 wt.%) was then added to modify the pH of the obtained composite to 11.0.
