Intelligence. We use it everyday whether we know it or not. We all have some form of intelligence whether it be in a certain area of life or just overall in life. Intelligence is in many things from animals to humans to even computers. We base our life on intelligence. We try to get ahead in life constantly. Society as a whole is always trying to get smarter and smarter. You all have intelligence but it takes time to develop. Development has factors that play a role. For example the environment and heredity play a role in your intelligence quotient.

So what is intelligence? Intelligence can be defined and understood in multiple ways. Intelligence can be defined as the ability to apply knowledge to manipulate one’s environment or to think abstractly as measured by objective criteria such as tests (Merriam-Webster “Intelligence” 2018). Intelligence can be viewed the measure of intelligence is the ability to change. Intelligence is the ability to profit from experience, acquire knowledge, think abstractly, act purposefully, or adapt to changes in the environment (Wade, Tavris, Sommers, and Shin 2018)

We measure intelligence by using the 114 year old intelligence quotient test created by Alfred Binet. Intelligence quotient is scored by formula of using the mental age divided by chronical age and then multiplied by 100 to ger the intelligence quotient score. “But a child of 8 who performed like the average 10-year-old would have a mental age of 10 and an IQ of 125 (10 divided by 8, times 100) environment (Wade, Tavris, Sommers, and Shin 2018). People tend to overlook even the least influenced intelligence quotient test that will only provide a small portion of the cognitive ability.

There are many interesting facts about intelligence that make you think. One fact being that intelligence is important because it is your ability to gather information. Intelligence helps you gather good judgement skills. Environmental factors can affect your IQ. An example of a factor is the difference in going to a financially stable school versus a poor funded school. The intelligence quotient reference chart says that if you have an intelligence quotient score higher than 145 you are technically a genius, but if you are below 20 you should have a profound disability.

In conclusion intelligence tends to be understood in multiple ways. Intelligence quotient testing was created by Alfred Binet, French psychologist, in 1904. Intelligence quotient is measured with a formula of mental age divided by chronical age times one-hundred. Your environment can affect how well your intelligence quotient score is. Artificial intelligence is used in everyday life because you might be using Siri, Alexa, or even Cortana are digital personal assistants. Several other ways we are using artificial intelligence in our everyday lives are spell check, search engines, computer games, voice recognition and many others. We use emotional intelligence in everyday life by using patience, self-control, and self-awareness. People with higher emotional intelligence tent to be calm under pressure, resolve conflicts, are empathetic to others, they lead by example, and put a lot of consideration to decision making.
