When men and women are equally participate in promoting and maintaining of peace and security, threats will be reduced in the societies hence people will be living in peace, freedom, free from dangers and participate fully in the process of governance hence promoting development. Women should equally participate in dealing with conflict resolutions, peace building and peace keeping to promote security. Peace keeping missions helps to provide security to people whereby their rights are protected. Women and girls are protected from sexual violence due to the provision of security in the society.

Men and women participate in the early warning programs which helps to protect people from dangers and threats. Early warning can best be defined as ‘any information from any source which may determine a threat in advance and inform people to move away from that disaster prone areas such as earth quakes, volcanoes, floods and famine. Early warning programs acts as a tool in conflict prevention hence it brings security to people. Events which are predicted on early warning programs includes; food crises, imminent refugee flows, or outward signs of violent conflict such as cross-border trade disruption, sudden public displays of military-style weapons and increased crime rates or human rights violations.

Men and women plays an important role in providing security to the society. Those who are combatants and work in a recognized military institution, they promote internal and external security by ensuring that people are protected from threats. This helps to boost the economy of the country since foreign investors invest in a country where there is peace and stability.

The relationship between gender and environmental security is that both men and women participate in promoting, protecting and conserving the environment through sustainable developments. Protecting the environment helps to protect people from threats such as global warming, soil erosion, deforestation, water scarcity, soil degradation, and exposure to agricultural and industrial chemicals and organic pollutants affect women and men in varying ways.
