ABSTRACT
The lunch table is designed and developed by the students of previous batch of Department of Industrial Engineering for providing the facility of taking lunch to the 15 persons at a time of any organization where people bring their own tiffin boxes and share the dishes among each other. A Circular shape dumb-waiter is mounted at the centre of table for keeping the various dishes of individual. The required dish can be taken within reachable area of end user by rotating the dumbwaiter. It is observed that every time there is need to rotate the dumbwaiter manually for sharing the same dish in 15 persons. This manual motion given by individual for taking the bite of required dish creates lot of disturbance in sharing the same dish or various dishes kept on dumb-waiter. This results into increasing the waiting time for taking the bite of required dish and leads towards loosing of interest of person of testing the various dishes. This manual rotary motion of dumbwaiter can be mechanized for sharing all the dishes uniformly within end users. This additional feature would be value addition in the same design of lunch table. Literature review is carried out for establishing a theoretical framework for the undertaken area of project work. Review is done for perceiving the mechanised lunch tables for serving the various dishes to more number of people. The efforts are also made for studying the various mechanisms used for rotating the table for the various purposes. The various mechanisms are taken into consideration for selecting the appropriate mechanism for the purpose. The evaluation is done on the basis of various parameters such as cost, space, noise, etc. The general layout of mechanism is planned and accordingly the system is designed, developed and successfully installed to achieve mechanization of rotary motion of dumb-waiter of lunch table.
